We recently had the incredible opportunity to style our Southwest Collection at the breathtaking Bay Builds in Long Jetty, a project designed and constructed by the magic-making duo (who you may have seen on The Block!) Kyal and Kara. Every corner of this space radiates coastal elegance, thoughtful design, and a sense of home, making it the perfect setting for our ethically crafted rugs.
Read on for 5 tips to inspire your own home styling, and dive into how we styled this dreamy space.
A big thank you to Kyal and Kara for allowing us to bring a dash of Rugs for Good into your stunning project. LOUNGE ROOM | LOOK 1
Styling Tip #1: Earthy olive tones create a sense of relaxation and rejuvenation
Green tones like olive are known for evoking a sense of relaxation and rejuvenation, making them perfect for spaces like bedrooms and living rooms.
In the lounge room, we drew inspiration from the textured neutral walls and earthy decor tones of browns and beiges, and decided to introduce a touch of depth and contrast with our Mendocino Wool Jute Rug in Olive. We love how this rug enhances the neutral tones of the space while adding a calming, luxurious touch.
Hot tip: Olive tones blend effortlessly with neutral palettes like beige, ivory, and grey, creating a cohesive and balanced aesthetic. Introduce this colour to your space to bring a sense of nature into your home for a grounded and serene atmosphere.

Styling Tip #2: Light colours make a room feel more spacious and airy
We were absolutely obsessed with the lounge area, so we just had to feature another rug here and show you another style option! For a second styling option in the lounge room, we featured our Luna Wool Rug in Snow. Luna's refined texture and soft snow-white tones create a light, airy ambiance, offering an elegant contrast to the deeper olive hues of our first look.
Hot Tip: Light colours, like our Luna Wool Rug in Snow, can make a room feel more spacious and airy. If you're working with a smaller space and want to create the illusion of more room, incorporating lighter tones can help open things up and bring a sense of freshness.

MASTER BEDROOM
Styling Tip #3: For a cosy and peaceful sanctuary, opt for a plush New Zealand Wool Rug
Our goal for the master bedroom was to enhance the calming feel of the tranquil retreat that Kyal and Kara so beautifully captured. We chose our Newport Pebbly Weave Wool Rug in Ivory for its plush pile height of 21-24mm, offering unparalleled softness and comfort underfoot and it's stunning pebbly weaves which adds visual interest whilst keeping the space minimalist. The soft ivory tones perfectly complement the room’s light and airy aesthetic, pairing effortlessly with the wooden floors and furniture.
Hot tip: Ivory tones, plush New Zealand wool, and wood paired together in a space evoke a sense of warmth and natural elegance. Together, they create a calming, harmonious atmosphere that feels both timeless and inviting. We love this pairing to craft a sanctuary perfect for rest and relaxation.

ENTERTAINING ROOM
Styling Tip #4: Beige and neutral tones are a timeless choice for achieving understated elegance
In the entertaining room, we worked with complimenting the neutral and brown tones and selected our Luna Wool Rug in Beige. Its warm beige hues provided the perfect backdrop, complementing the colour scheme effortlessly. With a low pile height of 10-12mm, Luna is not only stylish but also robot vacuum-friendly (a win for modern living!).
Hot tip: Beige tones are a versatile neutral that evoke warmth, balance, and understated elegance. We love using beige to create a calm, inviting atmosphere that feels timeless yet modern, making it perfect for any room in your home.

GUEST BEDROOM
Styling Tip #5: For a modern calm and tranquil feel, opt for grey tones
For the guest bedroom, we aimed to lighten the space while complementing the darker grey/brown carpet and grey bed frame. The Seattle Wool Rug in Dove was the perfect choice, adding a soft contrast to frame the bed as a central feature in the room, whilst evoking calmness and tranquility and with soft grey colour. We love how chic this space feels!
Hot tip: The subtle pop of colour from the blue pillows and artwork in this room is perfect for adding a playful yet sophisticated touch to a neutral-toned space. This creates visual interest while maintaining a calm and balanced aesthetic.
Grey pairs beautifully with a variety of colours, including:
- Soft pinks for a gentle, romantic feel.
- Mustard yellow for a bold yet warm contrast.
- Green to bring a lush, natural vibe.
- Burnt orange for a cosy, autumnal feel.
- Charcoal and black for a sleek, modern look.
- Cream and beige to enhance warmth and softness.
- Navy blue for a rich, grounding accent.
