What does creating a beautiful home mean to you?

It’s all about making a space that feels good – calming, warm and cosy, but also it needs to be practical, because… kids! It’s a place where we can all unwind and spend time together. Somewhere that we feel comfy and like us, but also with a touch of style too (clutter hurts my brain!). So, it’s kind of like the best of both worlds - comfort and style, with a dash of personality and practicality too.

How would you describe your interior design style?

My style is a bit of a mix and is always changing! I’d say it’s a blend of minimalistic with a bit of a beach house vibe, and then I throw in some vintage retro touches for fun. I’m all about creating a neutral base - but I love mixing in pops of colour and texture to bring everything to life. Natural elements like wood, plants, and rattan are key, and I love adding vintage finds to make the space feel more unique. At the heart of it all, I want my home to feel calm, clutter-free, and easy to live in, but with those little details that make it feel like a family space.

Where does your style come from? Who do you look to for styling advice?

I think everyone’s style changes and evolves over the years, depending on what’s in trend at the time. I’ve always had a love of high ceilings and lots of light, mixed in with wood. I think that’s my base and then it just changes over time. I also look to other creatives who share a similar vibe and am I lover of a good interiors blog – The Design Files has been a longtime favourite. And I can’t go past a good Pinterest board – it’s always my go-to for inspiration - I can get lost in there for hours, finding little styling tips that make a big difference.

How does a rug change the room? What do you look for when searching for a rug?

A rug is like the heart of the living room – it’s the base that brings everything else together. Whenever I’m creating a space, I always start with the rug! It adds warmth, texture, and just that extra bit of personality. I love looking for rugs that complement my space but also bring in a little pop of colour or warmth or a fun pattern to mix things up. I always look for something that feels cosy underfoot but is also visually interesting enough to make a statement without overwhelming the room.

With rugs do you prefer Bold or neutral tones?

I used to be all about the neutrals but more recently I’ve started being a bit braver and going a little bolder! I do still really love a rug that has a calming vibe to it though. It’s all about balance!

Minimal design or texture & patterns?

Honestly, a little bit of both! I love minimal designs for their simplicity and clean lines, but texture and patterns are a must in my space. They add depth and interest, which is important when keeping things neutral. A rug with the perfect balance of both can completely make the space.

Do you have any tips for matching a rug with an existing space? Where do you start?

Start with the vibe of the room. What’s already in the space? If you have a lot of texture, maybe opt for a more neutral rug to balance it out. Or, if your space feels a little too plain, choose a rug with a pattern or colour to add some personality. Also, don’t forget to consider the size of the rug! It’s like the ‘accessory’ to your room, so it should fit the space just right.

What are your 3 favourite rugs from Rugs For Good and why?

Well first up is obviously the Bhakti rug in Gold! I love the warmth it brings and how soft it is underfoot. They way the colour changes depending on the light is also pretty special.

The Sedona Wool rug in Sepia is my second favourite – the beautiful tones and texture make it! I also feel like it’d be pretty forgiving if you have kids too!

And then it’s got to be the Mendocino Wool & Jute Rug in Olive. Every house needs a Jute rug and I love that this one is a little different with the wool mixed in as well.

Of all the rug companies out there, why do you choose to partner with Rugs for Good?

Rugs for Good is all about quality and style, and I love that your rugs are so thoughtfully designed… There’s something for everyone whether you want something bold or neutral. Plus, I’m all about brands that care, and the fact that you’ve got a commitment to sustainability really resonates with me. Rugs For Good just get it when it comes to creating beautiful, lasting pieces for your home.
